The Pumpkin Contest is Coming!

Date: October 10, 2010 Author: admin Categories: Uncategorized

Nothing says “Halloween” like the long-standing tradition of the Brittan Acres annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. Join your teachers, classmates, and even some parents, too. Showcase your creativity and Halloween spirit in this fun-filled contest on Friday, Oct. 29.

Entries may be carved and/or decorated. Children are encouraged to create spooktacular masterpieces of their very own. There is a separate category for adults.

Please note that all children entering the contest will receive a prize. A winner from each grade level (K-4) and an adult will also receive a special award in each of the following categories: Funniest, Scariest, Biggest, Smallest, Most Original, Best Dressed, and Judges’ Award.

Participating is easy; just create a pumpkin at home and then on Oct. 29:

  • Deliver the finished masterpiece to the MU by 8:20 am; judging will begin shortly after the second bell rings. To accommodate the late birds, Kindergarten judging will begin at 9:25 am.
  • Mark the masterpiece with the first and last name, grade, and room number clearly visible on the back.
  • Parents are invited for pumpkin viewing and refreshments after school begins at 8:25. Children will have an opportunity to view them with their class.

Once the contest and class tours are complete, your child will need to claim her or his pumpkin and take it back to the classroom where it will remain until dismissal. We will have a few helpers on site to assist the younger kids in getting their pumpkins back to class.

If you would like to help out at this event or have questions or comments, please call Meredith Gibbons at 595-2789. See you there!
