Hello BA Community.

It is with great pride that I share the following information with you!

BA Beautified
Brittan Acres is known to be a beautiful campus, and one of the big reasons for that is our amazing volunteer community that steps up each fall and spring for our clean-up days. Sunday was no exception. Please join me in thanking PTA Clean-up leads Mike Lyzun and Marina Velichko, and all the parents and children who turned out to plant, rake, paint, and otherwise spiff up our school yesterday.

BUGS Recognized (Again!)
Our award-winning PTA program BUGS (Better Understanding Garden Science) has done it again, earning a Silver Award from the School Garden Recognition Program of the San Mateo Food System Alliance. We will be recognized Saturday, April 28 at 10 am at Taft Community School in Redwood City. Special thanks to our terrific BUGS bosses Kristin Hendricks, Marni Rubin, and Bill Biggers!

Earth Day at BA: PRIDE In Our Environment
Today we will celebrate Earth Day with a student council assembly kicking off the new BA PRIDE Club (People Responsible for the Intelligent Defense of the Environment—acronym developed by 4th graders Bailey Baird and Katie Stamper). The big idea? We are in control of our immediate environment, capable of taking care of it in ways that make us proud. In each classroom, children are invited to sign a “Declaration of BA PRIDE” pledging to clean up after themselves, pick up litter they see here at school and put it where it belongs, and model behaviors that teach others about pride in a pristine environment. Special thanks to PTA’s Arnie Ferfas for his support!

Best wishes!
John Triska
