Principal’s Message 6/10

Date: June 10, 2013 Author: kristin Categories: Principals Message

Hello BA community.

What an incredible year this has been. All of us have learned and grown; thank you for your part in it! This year’s 4th graders were Kindergarten seedlings my first year at BA, so you can imagine my pride sending them off. Brittan Acres is a very special place in the world, and I’m grateful that these children– and all of us– had this time here together. Bon voyage!

If you are returning, expect a “Get Ready!” BA Blast the week of August 19. School will begin Wednesday, August 28.

**Last day of school: THURSDAY IS A MINIMUM DAY! 8:25-12:25
All students begin the day together, and dismissal is at 12:25. Please make a note of it!

Summer Reading Program/Summer Reading BBQ
The San Carlos Library will be closed from May 18th until November, for renovations. But our students can still participate in the summer reading program at other libraries, as well as attend a few summer programs in the upstairs area of the San Carlos Library building. The Belmont Library is beautiful, on the left just before you get to the Carlmont Shopping Center.

In September we will celebrate summer reading as we always do at BA, with a BBQ lunch for summer readers. To be invited, your child will need to bring a reading note to school that shares on average, how many minutes your child read each week over the summer. (Reading includes listening while being read to, for all ages.) A summer routine where the whole family puts away phones, turns off screens, and reads together—will result in peaceful pleasure for children and parents.

This Principal’s Wish For You
My wish for you is that the longer summer days allow your family to slow down and be in the moment together. Take it from a grandfather: this time in your life, with your children in the home, is precious. Breathe it in, feel it, enjoy it.

Best wishes,
John Triska
