Hello BA families. It’s time to talk safety!

Tuesday and Wednesday: Cordilleras Closed Between Belle and Elizabeth

San Carlos Public Works let me know that there will be a temporary street closure between Belle Ave. and Elizabeth St. on Tuesday 9/30 and Wednesday 10/1 between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Please talk to your friends and neighbors about this, to be sure they are aware of it. We are being advised to use Knoll Drive, parallel to Cordilleras on the east side, as a detour route to travel north and south around this construction.

This will likely make drop off and pick up dicey on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cross-town traffic will be caught off-guard and drivers may feel frustrated—and we know that can lead to dangerous maneuvering.

  • Drivers, please leave home early and expect delays, so you can remain calm despite the changes.
  • Walkers, please exercise caution and follow the directions of the crossing guards.

Safer Routes Coming, Please Be Patient

The end result of this construction will be a much safer pedestrian route for our families that walk south to Belle along Cordilleras, including a raised crosswalk at Cordilleras and Elizabeth that will make walkers clearly visible to oncoming traffic.

#1 Best Bets to Get to School Safe and Sound

  • Leave early, and take your time—both walking and driving.
  • Follow the directions of the crossing guards, and thank them for their service.
  • Drivers: never make a U-turn, or block a neighbor’s driveway.
  • Drop off on the school side of Belle only.
