Principal’s Message 11/10/14

Date: November 7, 2014 Author: admin Categories: Featured, Principals Message

Dear BA Families,

I think you know, but just in case, there is no school tomorrow: Veterans Day. I hope this unusual weekday off allows you time to connect with your family, and also to appreciate all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Military and made sacrifices to preserve our freedom.

We had a very successful “lockdown drill” last week. As we shared with the children, we will follow this specific protocol in case that we need to stay safely in our classrooms for any reason. At the pre-K to 4th grade level, the staff and I do not describe scenarios that might call for lockdown, but instead assure children that we have plans for a variety of emergency situations, and because we practice for them, we feel confident that we will be safe. I appreciate your understanding at home that we must rehearse a response– and will indeed be ready if necessary—while all of us hope we will be spared a real situation calling for a response.

Parent/Teacher Conference Week 11/17-11/21: All Days 12:25 Pick Up

Next week we will hold our parent/teacher conferences in the afternoons. I know your children’s teachers have been arranging times with you already. Please do your best to arrive on time. This will greatly help your teacher stay on schedule through the afternoon. There is no need to check in at the office—just go right to your children’s classrooms and if you arrive a bit early, wait your turn in the patio!

Best wishes,

John Triska
