CMS Girl Scout Troop Collecting Bikes for Bay Area families in need

Date: December 6, 2014 Author: admin Categories: Uncategorized

CMS Girl Scout Troop 32578 is collecting new and used bikes of all sizes to support Sequoia High School Parent Center and the Silicon Valley Bike Exchange. The girls will be tuning up the bikes and delivering them to Sequoia High School for distribution through the Parent Center. Each year, Sequoia High School provides support for dozens of students and their families. Any bikes that are not needed by the Parent Center will be taken to the Silicon Valley Bike Exchange where our troop will work on the bikes to ready them for donation in January.

Bike donation guidelines set by the SVBE:

Before donating your bike, ask yourself:

•Could an experienced mechanic make this bike functional and safe in one hour or less?

•Is the bike substantially free of rust and corrosion?

•Is the bike clean enough that you could offer it as a gift without embarrassment?

If you have a bike to donate, please contact Maria Warmerdam (mariawarmerdam@gmail.com) and we will schedule a time for a girl scout to come pick up your bike.

If you are interested in helping out, but don’t have an extra bike on hand, the Parent Center has a great need for blankets, warm coats and grocery store gift cards.

Happy Holidays!
