2016 Honorary Service Award – Adam and Allison Rak

Date: May 24, 2016 Author: Michelle Marchena Curtis Categories: Uncategorized

Allison and Adam Rak are saying Goodbye to BA with their last of 3 daughters leaving the school this year. The duo have consistently represented BA and our community for the last 9 years.  Allison served on the BA PTA Board as VP of Parent/Teacher Services and Parliamentarian.  She has Chaired committees: Family Night during the Celebrate Reading Festival, Honorary Service Awards. She’s been an Art in Action Docent for all of her 9 years at BA, a Room Parent, crossing guard, Sweetheart Dance helper, burrito master for Bingo and Burritos Night and independently took on the making of the frame sandwich boards at drop-off.

Outside of BA, she led a multiweek philanthropy project for her daughter’s Brownie Troop, helped coordinate the Washington DC trip which has been a highly successful live auction item at the Spring Gala for several years. She was on the committee to upgrade the younger and older kid playgrounds at Burton Park. She has been the Chair of the Pet Parade for Hometown Days for the last 3 years.

Adam is a very familiar face around the BA campus as well. We have relied on Adam as an inspiring leader of BUGS for many years, he’s participated in the MultiCultural Fair representing Poland, been a goto person for field trip driving, and shared his no longer hidden puppeteer talent at the Celebrate Reading Festival. Besides all his on campus work, BA is proud to have had one of our own serve two terms as a School Board Member, a position which Adam had to run a successful campaign to serve.

Thank you to Allison and Adam Rak, you both will be missed at BA.
