Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol Advisor: Mr. Triska

The Brittan Acres Safety Patrol is a school service program to enhance the safety of students before school. It makes sure students are getting in and out of their cars quickly and safely, and then proceeding in an orderly manner to the playground.

The approximately 40 students, split into 4 different squads, rotate so that they participate in the program once a month. They arrive at 8:00am to sign in and check their job assignment. Some students are on traffic duty, two raise the flag, and others monitor the hallways. This is a year-long commitment.

Students, parents, and teachers rely on this program to keep the mornings running smoothly and safely. In addition, it provides leadership opportunities, fosters responsibility, and develops self-esteem in the students who participate.

Safety Patrol will only be on duty in the morning; there is no duty in the afternoons.

Safety Patrol Members must:

  • Be at school ready for duty at 8 am during the weeks your patrol squad is on duty
  • Sign in at the designated location
  • Show up for duty every day you are scheduled
  • Work while on duty, not socialize with friends
  • Commit to Safety Patrol for the entire year
  • Wear a Badge
  • Wear Vests if helping in front of the school
  • Notify Mr. Triska in advance if you are unable to make your schedule
  • Find a substitute if you will miss your schedule
  • Be able to communicate clearly, directly, and professionally with students and parents

Frequent tardiness or no shows may lead to dismissal from the squad.
