Welcome to Brittan Acres

We are excited for our first year as a PK to 3 school. Brittan Acres is a special learning community which is only possible with the support of our parent volunteers and SCEF. There are countless opportunities to get involved during school hours, on weekends, or at home. Volunteer for as a crossing guard, a Wild Zone Ranger, or lend your technical skills to our website. If you’d like to learn more, please email volunteer@brittanacres.org.

Each year, BA gets better and better. We have fully embraced the districts strategic plan to foster development of the Whole Child and prepare children to be successful in the 21st century.

  • Academically:   BA has embraced Project Based Learning (PBL) for all grades. Our teachers have been trained in next generation techniques such as Reader’s Workshop and Writers Workshop.
  • Learning Environments:  Last year the BA PTA led the creation of the Wild Zone for children to experience, open-ended and child-led, play and exploration in nature. After years of planning, fund raising and work the BA Native Plant Garden and Amphitheater was opened last year as well. This year, we will be launching an innovative Maker and Tech Space. I can’t wait to see the kids work in this space!

This year I will also be working to open the new 4/5 school on the Tierra Linda campus in the fall of 2017. We are lucky to have two exceptional and seasoned educators and administrators join my leadership team. Jennifer Larocque is a former BA teacher and has most recently been a principal in the Jefferson School District. Betty Casey is the former principal at White Oaks. Please introduce yourselves when you see them.

This is going to be a great year at BA. Welcome to the family!
